Hackers and Painters
About two years ago I purchased a book called Hackers and Painters, completely oblivious to the fact that the author, Paul Graham, was the Paul Graham. I have no idea how I failed to make that painfully obvious connection.
I forgot about the book almost immediately after buying it, but thanks to my relatively disconnected state here in Prague, I recently rediscovered it hiding away in the Kindle app on my iPod. Over the past week I’ve probably read 1/4 of the book on my daily commute, and I must say, I love it. It’s terribly self-indulgent, each page I think to myself “yes, this is exactly why I love doing what I do”, but getting that kind of daily reminder is an awesome motivator.
Quick observations: definitely worth a read, bite-sized sections make it a great commuter book, very hacker-oriented
